WHAT IS THE
FAMILY GROUP CAMP?
The camp is located in a secluded corner of School
Section Lake Veteran's Park. The camp has 6 18'x24' cabins with
electricity. Each cabin has bunk beds and sleeps 10-12 people.
You must bring your own bedding. A service building provides
showers and restroom facilities. A 30'x40' log lodge has
electricity, a fireplace, kitchen & dining area with seating capacity
for 100 people. The kitchen has a large camp style electric range
with griddle and oven, a hot water heater, large sinks, freezer,
refrigerator, storage, cooking and eating utensils.
WHO CAN USE
THE MECOSTA COUNTY FAMILY GROUP CAMP?
The Family Group Camp (FGC) facilities are not
just for youth groups. Adult and family groups may also use the
facilities. Youth groups (high school age and younger), boy
scouts, girl scouts, 4-H, church groups, school groups, etc.
Adult/Family groups (over high school age), retreats, family reunions,
high school reunions, picnics, etc.
WHAT DOES
THE FAMILY GROUP CAMP HAVE TO OFFER?
An outdoor campfire site, swimming
beach and canoe rental. Adjoining the FGC is School Section Lake
Veteran's Park, which has a swimming beach, basketball,
volleyball, athletic fields, playground & horseshoe pits. The FGC
has an adjoining trail to Big Scoops, a favorite stop for pizza and putt
putt golf.

OF THE FAMILY GROUP CAMP
The FGC is located six miles West of Remus,
within School Section Lake Veteran's Park, approximately eighteen miles
Southeast of Big Rapids, at 90th Avenue and 9 Mile road, 2 miles South
of M-20.

Family Group Camp
Family Group Camp (FGC) reservations are
made and paid at the Administrative Office - (231)832-3246. They
are open M-F from 8:30am to 5:00pm. Youth group reservations begin on
October 1st at 8:00am at the Administrative Office. Adult group
reservations begin on November 1st at 8:00am at the Administrative
Office. For reservations we take those standing in line first,
then answer the phone, then open the mail.
2008 RATES
YOUTH GROUPS
Weekday: $75.00/night, plus $3.00 per person, per
night
Weekend: $300.00 from Fri. 5pm-Sun. 3pm, plus $3 per
person, per night
ADULT GROUPS
Weekday: $100.00/night, plus $10.00 per person, per
night
Weekend: $350.00 from Fri. 5pm-Sun. 3pm, plus $10 per
person, per night
*Vehicle permits are required for all
adult/family groups.
CANOES – 3 person canoes available for
rent at $5.00 per day, per canoe
Any group staying at the Family Group Camp for 6 nights
or more will pay the weekday rate per night regardless if it includes
the weekend. If a 6 night rental leaves a day open for a weekend, that
one day/evening use will be available for $100.00.
