Below is a brief description of seasonal park positions. The descriptions listed below are intended to describe the general nature and level of work being performed by people assigned this classification. They are not to be construed as an exhaustive list of all job duties performed by personnel so classified.

All hourly park positions will be expected to work WEEKENDS AND HOLIDAYS, possibly six days/week, not normally to exceed 40 hours per week. All Managers and Asst. Managers will be expected to work WEEKENDS AND HOLIDAYS, six days/week, minimum of 48 hours per week. Management staff is expected to live in the park during on duty shifts. 

The Mecosta County Park Commission has adopted the Mecosta County Board of Commissioners "Drug Free Work Place Policy" and each employee must sign and adhere to the policy. Additionally, all employees will be working with the public and assisting visitors, so tact and public relations skills are a prerequisite for all positions. Park Manager: Performs all aspects for park management including, but not limited to maintenance, custodial duties, personnel management, report preparation, park patrol, complaint responses, rule and regulations enforcement. Responsible for all revenue collection and deposits. Salaried position. Housing/campsite provided. Mid-April to the beginning of October.

Assistant Park Manager: Assist Park manager in performance of all duties listed above. Salaried position. Campsite provided. Mid-April to the beginning of October.

Custodian: Thoroughly cleans and sanitizes park facilities. Regularly inspects buildings for cleanliness. Orders all cleaning supplies as required. Wage: $8.56/hr. to start. Campsite provided. Mid-May to Labor Day

Ranger: Enforces park rules and regulations, sells passes, registers campers, patrols park, responds to minor complaints, performs custodial and maintenance duties as assigned. Wage: $8.56/hr. to start. Housing: none. Mid-May to Labor Day.

Office Ranger: Sells passes, registers campers, patrols park, responds to minor complaints, answers phones and cleans office. Wage: $8.56/hr. to start. Housing: none. Mid-May to Labor Day.

Maintenance Worker: Performs all aspects of park maintenance. Duties focus primarily on mowing and landscape maintenance but include litter removal, construction, equipment upkeep/repair, painting, limited custodial duties, and assists full time maintenance staff. Operates mower and power tools. Wage: $8.56/hr. to start. Housing: none. Mid-May to Labor Day.

Roving Maintenance Worker:  Performs all aspects of park maintenance.  Utilizes blueprints and reviews rough sketches, as well as verbal and written instructions, to accomplish such maintenance tasks as building, wiring, plumbing, heating installation, and repairs.  Performs other maintenance tasks such as carpentry, painting and masonry work.  Operates mower and power tools and assists full time maintenance staff.  Wage: $8.76/hr. to start. Housing: none. Mid-May to Labor Day.

Programmer: Prepares daily activity programs for a week or more in advance and keeps a log of all activities done. Must find volunteers and obtain donations as well as program special events. Have general knowledge of arts and crafts. Wage: $8.56/hr. to start. Housing: none. Mid-May to Labor Day.

Office Assistant: Under the general supervision of the Executive Secretary, performs a variety of functions; such as assisting the Executive Secretary in the accounting, clerical and public relations duties of the Park Commission. Wage: $8.56/hr. to start. Housing: none. Early April – Late October.
